Gentle Teeth Cleanings for Clarkdale Families and Adults
Clarkdale sits just minutes from our Mableton office, which makes Vibrant Smiles a practical choice for residents who want thorough, gentle teeth cleanings without a long drive. Dr. Chea Rainford and his hygiene team handle everything from routine six-month visits to periodontal maintenance, and we keep appointments on time so you can get back to your day.
If it has been more than a year since your last cleaning, or if you are switching dentists and want a fresh start, we make the first visit straightforward. We file your insurance claims, walk you through your options before any work begins, and tell you the cost up front.
What Happens During a Cleaning Visit at Vibrant Smiles
A standard hygiene visit takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Your hygienist starts with a quick health review and an intraoral camera scan so you can see what we see. We measure gum pocket depths to check for early gum disease, take digital X-rays if you are due for them, and screen for oral cancer with a visual exam and, when indicated, a VELscope soft-tissue light.
Then comes the cleaning itself: an ultrasonic scaler to break up tartar, fine hand instruments to clean below the gumline where buildup hides, polishing to remove surface stains, and fluoride if you are at higher cavity risk. If you have sensitive teeth, ask about desensitizing gel before we start — it makes a real difference.
Dr. Rainford reviews your X-rays and the hygienist's findings before you leave, answers your questions, and gives you a written plan if anything needs follow-up.
Meet Dr. Chea Rainford, DMD

Insurance, Membership, and New Patient Pricing
Vibrant Smiles is in-network with most major PPO insurance plans. If your plan covers preventive care at 100 percent, your routine cleaning could cost you nothing out of pocket. We file claims on your behalf and follow up with insurers directly, so you don't have to chase paperwork.
No insurance? Two options exist:
- Friends & Family Membership Plan: A 12-month in-house plan that includes your cleanings, exams, and routine X-rays at no additional cost, plus discounts on procedures like fillings. No deductibles, no waiting periods, no claim denials. Ask the front desk for current pricing.
- New Patient Special — $129: Includes a comprehensive dental exam, a complete set of digital X-rays, and an oral cancer screening. New patients only, valid for 60 days from your call, one per person, cannot be combined with insurance.
For larger treatment plans, we accept CareCredit, which offers interest-free financing for qualified patients across fixed monthly terms.
Frequently Asked Questions About Teeth Cleaning
How often should I get a professional cleaning?
The American Dental Association recommends a professional cleaning at least every six months for most adults. If you have a history of gum disease, smoke, are pregnant, or take certain medications, your hygienist may recommend cleanings every three to four months. We set your schedule based on your gum measurements and risk factors, not a one-size-fits-all rule.
What's the difference between a regular cleaning and a deep cleaning?
A regular cleaning (called prophylaxis) removes plaque and tartar above and slightly below the gumline. A deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) goes further below the gumline to remove buildup from inflamed periodontal pockets, and is only recommended when gum measurements show early or moderate gum disease. Dr. Rainford will only recommend a deep cleaning if your gum pocket measurements warrant it — never as an upsell.
Will my cleaning hurt if I have sensitive teeth?
It shouldn't. Tell your hygienist at the start of the visit, and we can apply a topical desensitizing gel before scaling begins. For patients with significant sensitivity or anxiety, localized numbing or sedation options are available. The goal is for you to leave comfortable, not bracing for the next visit.
How much does a teeth cleaning cost without insurance?
Costs vary depending on whether you need a routine cleaning or a deeper periodontal cleaning, and whether X-rays are due. Our $129 new patient special covers your first exam, X-rays, and oral cancer screening. The Friends & Family Membership Plan covers your cleanings, exams, and routine X-rays for a 12-month period. Call (678) 810-1100 and we will give you a real number before you book, not after.
Do you treat children?
Yes. We see kids of all ages for cleanings, sealants, and exams. Booking both parents and kids in back-to-back appointments is one of the most common requests we handle. Just let the front desk know when you call.
