A 20-Minute Drive That's Worth the Trip for Powder Springs Patients
Powder Springs is about 20 minutes from our Mableton office at 5015 Floyd Rd SW. The patients who drive in from Powder Springs do it for specific reasons: Wednesday evening hours that fit work schedules, the same hygienist tracking their gum health year after year, in-network coverage with most major PPO plans, and a practice owner — Dr. Chea Rainford — who has been at this location for more than 15 years rather than rotating through corporate ownership changes.
Most Powder Springs patients reach us via the East-West Connector or by taking Macland Road east. If you live closer to Lost Mountain or the Silver Comet Trail area, the drive can take a few minutes longer. Either way, parking is free and directly in front of the entrance.
Why Powder Springs Families Drive to Vibrant Smiles
Evening Hours That Fit Work Schedules
Wednesdays we are open until 7 pm. For families with two working parents, kids in school, and only so many flexible hours in the week, the evening slot is often the difference between staying current with cleanings and pushing them off another six months.
Family Appointments Booked Back-to-Back
Bringing both kids and a parent in for cleanings the same morning is one of our most common scheduling requests. Tell the front desk what you need when you call and we will sequence the appointments so you are in and out efficiently.
PPO In-Network Care
We are in-network with most major dental PPO carriers. We file your claims, follow up with insurers, and handle the paperwork. If your plan covers preventive care at 100 percent, your routine cleaning could cost nothing out of pocket.
What to Expect at Your Cleaning Visit
A routine cleaning runs about 45 minutes to an hour. Your hygienist starts with a health update, an intraoral camera scan so you can see what we see, gum pocket measurements, and digital X-rays if you are due. We screen for oral cancer visually and, when indicated, with a VELscope soft-tissue light. The cleaning itself combines ultrasonic scaling for tartar removal, hand instruments for below the gumline, polishing for surface stains, and fluoride if you are at higher cavity risk.
Dr. Rainford reviews your X-rays and the hygienist's findings before you leave. If you need follow-up work, you get a written plan with the costs spelled out — no surprises later.
For patients with sensitive teeth, ask for desensitizing gel before scaling starts. For anxious patients, sedation options are available — just tell us when you book so we can plan.
Meet Dr. Chea Rainford, DMD
Dr. Rainford earned his DMD from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in Augusta after completing a chemistry degree at the University of West Georgia. He has practiced in Georgia for more than 15 years and his post-graduate training includes prosthodontics, orthodontics, periodontics, and endodontics. The same dentist overseeing your cleaning is trained to handle complex restorative work if it ever comes up.
He holds Fellowship status with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (FICOI) and is a member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, the Hinman Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the drive from Powder Springs?
About 20 minutes on average, depending on traffic and which part of Powder Springs you are coming from. The East-West Connector is typically the fastest route. From the Lost Mountain area, expect closer to 25 minutes.
Is it worth driving 20 minutes for a cleaning?
That depends on what you value. If you want a practice where the same hygienist tracks your gum health year after year, evening hours that fit working schedules, in-network PPO coverage with no paperwork on your end, and a dentist with 15+ years at the same location, then yes — the patients who drive in tell us it is. If you only need a one-time cleaning, a closer practice might make sense. We are happy to give you an honest answer when you call.
Do you offer evening hours?
Yes. Wednesdays we are open until 7 pm. Other weekday hours run from 8 or 9 am to 5 or 5:30 pm. We are closed Fridays through Sundays.
How much does a cleaning cost without insurance?
It depends on whether you need a routine cleaning or a deeper periodontal cleaning, and whether X-rays are due. The $129 new patient special covers your first exam, X-rays, and oral cancer screening. The Friends & Family Membership Plan covers cleanings, exams, and routine X-rays for 12 months. Call (678) 810-1100 and the front desk will give you a real number before you book.
Can you see my whole family in one visit?
Yes. We routinely schedule parents and children back-to-back. Let the front desk know how many people you are bringing and their ages when you call.
What if I haven't been to a dentist in years?
Welcome — and no judgment. Your first visit will be a comprehensive exam, X-rays, gum measurements, and a conversation about where to start. If you need work before a routine cleaning, we will explain why and break it into manageable visits.
