Full, Partial, and Implant Retained Dentures in Mableton

Are you looking to replace some or all of your teeth? Our office offers multiple solutions for you.

Dentures are removable prosthetic devices designed to replace missing teeth. They are supported by the surrounding soft and hard tissues of the mouth. A full denture, also known as a complete denture, replaces all natural teeth in the upper or lower arch and provides essential support for the cheeks and lips. By restoring missing teeth, dentures not only help prevent facial sagging but also improve speech and chewing ability.

Full dentures are generally divided into two categories, conventional and immediate, based on the timing of their fabrication and placement.

Conventional dentures are created and placed after the remaining teeth have been extracted and the gum tissues have fully healed. This healing period typically takes several weeks to months, allowing for a more precise and comfortable fit.

Immediate dentures are placed on the same day the remaining teeth are removed. The key advantage of immediate dentures is that patients do not have to go without teeth during the healing process. However, because the gums and bone continue to change shape as they heal, these dentures may require adjustments to ensure a proper fit.

Removable Dentures

A removable partial denture fills the gaps created by missing teeth, restoring both function and appearance. It typically consists of artificial teeth attached to pink or gum-colored acrylic bases supported by a metal framework. The denture is secured to the remaining natural teeth using either metal clasps or precision attachments.

Precision attachments are more discreet and offer a snug, natural-looking fit. However, they often require crowns on the supporting natural teeth and are generally more costly than traditional metal clasps.

We offer a range of denture solutions to meet different needs and preferences, including:
Complete dentures, partial dentures, transitional dentures, metal-based dentures, and acrylic-based dentures.

All of our dentures are durable, comfortable, and custom-crafted to provide a secure fit and a confident smile.

Implant-Supported Dentures & Bridges

Dentures are a way to replace a number of missing teeth so that, functionally, you can chew your food and have a nice smile. However, since dentures sit in the mouth on top of the gum, there are no tooth roots to anchor and stimulate bone growth and strengthen the jawbone. This leads to bone loss, receding gums, changes in the shape and profile of one’s face, and periodontal disease.

In addition to the physical changes they cause in your face, dentures often need to be resized, can cause sores in the mouth from friction and slipping, and can impair your ability to speak clearly.

A healthier alternative to traditional dentures is the Implant-Supported Denture. This is a combination of a number of implants surgically implanted into the jawbone (good for bone stimulation and growth) and a denture, which can be removed and cleaned. This option prevents bone deterioration that can lead to periodontal disease. Patients who go this route also experience an easier time talking and chewing. In addition to these benefits, since there is no bone loss in the jaw, there is no slippage, and the denture does not need to be resized.

Dental Bridges are often a solution for a row of missing teeth. The bridge is connected to two natural teeth on either side of the gap, which are shaved down and replaced with crowns. The crowns serve as anchors to the bridge.

Like dentures, a dental bridge sits on top of the gum line. Since no tooth root stimulates the jawbone, the bone eventually disintegrates. Once this process has begun, it often leads to a situation where the bridge slips and no longer fits properly because of the degradation of the bone and the receding of the gum line. This slippage can create a gap, allowing plaque and bacteria into the jaw, leading to a host of other health issues, like periodontal disease.

Like the implant-supported dentures discussed above, an Implant-Supported Bridge is also anchored by two dental implants. This preserves the integrity of the two natural teeth that now do not have to be shaved down and fitted with dental crowns. The implants prevent bone loss, which prevents slippage and offers a stable chewing foundation.
